Christopher Saley

The Basics:

I recently finished up my Masters in Ecological Restoration at the University of Florida in May of 2022, and I previously worked as a recreation technician/drone pilot in the REC Lab.

What I did in the REC Lab

In the REC Lab, I worked on the FWC Wildlife Management Areas project and the Lake Okeechobee/Florida National Scenic Trail Visitor Assessment, collecting data through the trail counters. Most recently, I’ve worked on the Aquatic Preserve project, where I used a drone to calculate visitor/boat counts.

Who am I?

Education and Background

  • M.S. in Forest Resources & Conservation from the University of Florida (Concentration: Ecological Restoration), 2022
  • B.S. in Forest Resources & Conservation from the University of Florida, 2021
  • A.S. in Forestry from the College of Central Florida, 2018

The Details

I like to spend time with my family when I’m not working. We enjoy going to parks around Gainesville during the week and try to visit the beaches and springs when the weather is nice. If I get time to myself, I like to go on long bike rides and explore nature or work with my plants in the yard to make it nicer for the birds and the bees that frequent the area. Always taking photographs of interesting or beautiful scenes I come across, as well.
